As a newly married, twenty-something, I had no clue about how to handle money. Isn’t it amazing that one of life’s most difficult challenges is hardly ever taught in school?
I made lots of bad decisions in those days until I came across a wise man who took the time to sit down with me and explain what I was missing.
Fast forward to my late 30s when a round of corporate downsizing led me to contemplate my next career move. My wife said something that changed my work life forever: “Make a career out of your passion, and you will never hate your job.” I took the leap, launched my financial planning career, and never looked back.
To date, I have helped hundreds of families transform their financial lives, first by defining what really matters to them as well as their dreams and aspirations for the future. Once we know where they want to go, we create a structured, personalized plan designed to help them get there.
A graduate of Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, I began my career in financial services in 1992 as a regional manager with Primerica Financial Services. Later, from 2008 to 2010, I operated a branch office for Edward Jones in Ocean View, Delaware. In January 2011, I became a financial advisor at BIG Investment Services, one of the largest financial advisory firms in Delaware.
Based on my commitment to personal integrity, my years of experience, and after hearing clients talk about what they need and value most, I founded Guardian Investments in 2018. Guardian exists to glorify God above all else. Our mission is to positively impact the lives of the people we serve, while remaining in the center of God’s direction and reflecting His character. We do this through financial planning that is Biblically based. We treat our clients with respect and value. Our value to our clients is providing financial planning services with integrity, moral courage, and wisdom.
In addition to partnering with my clients to reach their goals, I enjoy investing my time in our church, community and area businesses. I currently serve as secretary of the board of the Delmarva Christian Schools.
My wife Nicole is the executive director of a local non-profit. Our son Noah lives in Arkansas where he manages media for his church. From the age of 8, he and I have enjoyed waterfowl hunting together, and he’s become much better at it than I. Our daughter Reagan is a college student who serves as worship leader at our church, where she plays piano and guitar. One of my favorite family activities is sitting around the fireplace listening to her sing.

I have always loved problems. From a young age the challenge of figuring out a math equation or solving a puzzle and watching it all come together has been what gets me up in the morning. Over the years, those problems and puzzles have changed. That same joy and satisfaction I received from completing my Lego Space Shuttle I got for my 10th birthday, I now get after seeing a neatly constructed wealth plan come together. (Or still the Legos. I still love Legos.)
The eldest in a homeschooling family of six, I had a unique childhood with my family splitting time between rustic summer living in rural Alaska and coastal winter living here on the Delmarva peninsula. I spent those years working hard both in the family commercial fishing operation and in the classroom as my mom was harder than any college professor I have ever had. I love to show friends and family my "research" report on elephants in 2nd grade that is completely marked up in red ink.
At 17, I graduated high school and attended Delaware Tech for Entrepreneurship. Two years later I moved halfway across the globe to Australia to attend Bible college where I received an Advanced Diploma in Theology & Pastoral Care and met my wonderful wife. After moving back home I took over the family business and began developing my skills in business and finance.
After years of operating the family business along with a small business of my own, I was ready to move on to something different that could blend my skills and education in business, finance, and people into one.
After taking a year off to travel and rest with my wife I found my way into the financial world.
Working at Guardian Investments is an incredible blessing and I enjoy being able to bring my real world experience and knowledge along with kindness and care to every person that walks through the door. I love solving problems and working with our clients here at Guardian to build both wealth and long-lasting meaningful relationships.
My wife Courtney and I currently live here in Millsboro with our poodle Teddy. We enjoy traveling together and have been to all 50 states and numerous countries. I serve as a worship pastor at a local church and love to write songs, sing, and play various instruments. I also enjoy astronomy and anything space related and have a large collection of related books, telescopes, and astrophotography equipment.

Growing up in a large family, I learned the importance of hard work, dedication & commitment early on. That work ethic has had a major impact on my life, and for that I will forever be grateful to my parents.
Since earning my degree in Women’s Ministries in 2009 from Baptist Bible College, now Clarks Summit University, my career has been spent helping people. At the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, I helped members market & grow their businesses. Training & hiring new employees and serving guests was “my pleasure” as the training director of my local Chick-fil-A. And I helped employees follow food safety and operational excellence guidelines as a specialist with Steritech.
After transitioning to financial services, I continue to serve and help people here at Guardian Investments. Our firm is like family, and I love being able to carry out my passion in an uplifting and professional environment with amazing people.
In 2021, I earned the Financial Paraplanner Qualified ProfessionalSM (FPQP®) designation from the College for Financial Planning®. This program, is a financial designation program designed to teach a broad, practical knowledge of all the main aspects in personal financial planning. It has given me the knowledge and confidence to serve our clients and team with excellence.
In addition to helping our clients, I enjoy serving my local church on our worship team and my community as an alumnus of Leadership Central Delaware, Class of 2017.
A lot of my family is local, and I am blessed to be the aunt to an ever-growing number of nieces and nephews, spending time with them and watching them grow. I also enjoy visiting other family members for fun vacations in Florida and Colorado.
